Topic: File manager for Icadyptes

Today I was a bit surprised, why we don't have a some kind of file manager in a distributive? Even in <Extra>... hmm

Re: File manager for Icadyptes

Closest thing to a real file manager in Icadyptes is efm, which comes with e17. It isn't much, but it is something. If I built Xfce I would include Thunar which I've liked quite a bit. When I get around to learning C more I may try to improve efm a bit, but we will see.

Cheers!

PS: Sorry for being slow to respond lately. I've met someone quite special (I won't elaborate further), but hope to get back on track soon.

Re: File manager for Icadyptes

Ok.
And what about file manager for non-X environment?
Something like Midnight Commander, but smaller, simpler and faster.

Re: File manager for Icadyptes

Sorry for taking so long to reply :-/.

I just like to move around files in my shell; even in X I don't use file managers a whole lot. I could build midnight commander (mcedit used to be my favorite editor years back), but don't know of anything lighter or simpler. Found an MC fork, but I'm not sure if it would do.

Let me know if you find one that you would like built.

Re: File manager for Icadyptes

Thanks for reply, Teran!

The simplest file manager that I ever saw - Deco (Demos Commander), - a kind of Norton Commander or FAR in UNIX environment - small, fast, easy, flexible. And only one file!
I can build it, what do you think?

Re: File manager for Icadyptes

Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I'm just getting started on Icadyptes development today.

I found Deco, but it was supposedly deprecated in favor of Bash Commander. There is a PKGBUILD on AUR for bashc, should I build it, or would you prefer it if I built Deco? I'd really appreciate a PKGBUILD for Deco if you have the time :-).
